Q: Is changing my meter a complex procedure?
A: Changing your meter is a simple procedure. You don't have to be at home when the service person installs it and it should take less than a minute to do.
Q: When will my meter be replaced?
A: Northland Utilities will start replacing approximately 7,600 meters in Yellowknife in 2010. The work will begin in January and installations/replacements are expected to be complete by December.
Q: When will my meter be read by PowerPlus™?
A: Northland Utilities plans to have the required substation communication equipment installed, commissioned, and operating by the end of the second quarter 2010.
Q: How will I be notified?
A: Northland Utilities' communication plan consists of: radio ads, newspaper articles, door hangers, bill stuffers and messages throughout the implementation.
Q: Is my power bill going to increase because of AMR?
A: No. There is no extra charge for AMR. Northland Utilities anticipates that AMR will assist in reducing meter reading costs.
Q: What does TWACS mean?
A: TWACS stands for Two Way Automatic Communication System and is the protocol used to "talk" to meters.
